About The Artist

Julie Yamamoto is an artist and IT professional living in the Southeast, USA. Although primarily self-taught, creativity has always been a part of her life since she was very young, and has expressed itself through a variety of mediums including painting, writing, gardening/ landscape design, multimedia design, etc. She spent five years in Japan as a student, and was fortunate enough to experience many traditional Japanese art forms during her time there, such as kimekomi (kimono fabrics pressed into wooden shapes such as vases or dolls), chigirie (Japanese torn paper collaging) and other forms of Japanese paper art, lacquerware, calligraphy, etc. She has always been fascinated by the unique, interesting contrasts in texture or form, and vibrant colors. Her affinity for nature and the Japanese culture influence her art, as does an openness to experimentation. She discovers and draws inspiration from both experimentation and intent observation of the inner and outer world. Additionally, her profession in the IT industry has led her to the interest and pursuit of other art related topics such as digital art, art and technology, art and science, social media for the arts, etc. Although primarily focused on the canvas as a creative expression, she is drawn in by the journey and is passionate about seeking her dreams. Because so much about art fascinates her, she works in a variety of mediums, including acrylics, oils, watercolor, mixed media, and handmade papers.

Julie also indulges in other creative pursuits, such as writing and photography. To read more about that, visit this link:
